There may be a new way to protect your phone’s screen from cracking into little pieces. The spring-loaded ADcase acts like a normal phone cover, but when sensors trigger the case of a fall, the case transforms into a protection device.
The ADcase, which stands for Active Damping-case, was created by Philip Frenzel, a mechatronics master’s student at Aalen University in Germany. The slim case was created for iPhone models 6 and up, and contains sensors that detect when the phone is falling to its doom. The sensors then deliver a message to the metal-spring curled dampers to pop out from each corner and stifle the fall.
