Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that SKNET Corporation, a major digital TV and video product developer in Japan, has selected Cypress’s EZ-USB FX3 USB 3.0 peripheral controller for its MonsterX U3.0R external video capture system. The FX3 solution provides the MonsterX U3.0R with USB 3.0 bandwidth of 5 Gbps, which enables it to capture HD video without requiring compression that degrades image quality. This functionality allows end-users to capture and play back sharp, uncompressed HD video from various sources, including set-top boxes, media players, HD cameras, and gaming consoles.
EZ-USB FX3 is the industry’s only programmable, one-chip USB 3.0 peripheral controller. It is equipped with a highly configurable General Programmable Interface (GPIF II), which can be programmed in 8-, 16- and 32-bit configurations with data rates as high as 400 Megabytes per second.
