Cardinal RTCCardinal Components is introducing a four-part series of Real Time Clocks (RTC’s) numbered CS-1302, 1307, and CT-1380, along with series C-8563, all based on a Cardinal 32.768 kHz quartz crystal.

The CS-1302 features 2.0 to 5.5 volt operation, 31 x 8 RAM for scratch-pad data storage, and uses less than 300nA at 2.0 volts. It provides year, with leap-year compensation, month, day of the week, hours, minutes, and seconds. Offered in 8 pin SOP and 8 pin DIP, the CS-1302 series is ideal for instrumentation, medical applications, time recorders, security access and control, door controls, flow meters, and mobile telephones.

The CS-1307 RTC is equally versatile. It features a battery back-up mode, I2C interface, 56 bytes of scratch-pad NVSRAM for data storage, and programmable clock output. Ideal for time records, security access, door control, flow meters, and mobile telephones.

Not to be outdone, the highlights of the CT-1380 RTC are 2.0 to 5.5 volt full operation, simple serial 3-wire interface, TTL compatibility, and less than 400 nA @ 2.0 volts. Use this product for time recorders, security access, door control, flow meters, and mobile telephones.

Finally, the C-8563 RTC features 1.8 to 5.0 volt operation and I2C bus, alarm, and timer functions. It has a programmable clock output (32.768 kHz, 1024 Hz, 32 Hz and 1 Hz) and like the others in the series, provides year, month, day, day of the week, hours, minutes, and seconds with century flag and incorporates alarm and timer functions and a built in power-voltage detecting circuit. The C-8563 is low power, making it useful in applications ranging from industrial, instrumentation, medical, security, timer recorders, and water and gas flow meters.
