Intended for fine-grain control of vehicle engines and transmissions for improved performance and efficiency with low emissions, the SH72531 32-bit SuperH microcontroller (MCU) from Renesas can operate at temperatures as high as 125°C. The 90-nm process IC has 1.25 MB of flash memory and achieves 240 MIPS processing performance at 120 MHz. The 3.3-V/5-V chip consumes just 350 mW and comes in a 24-mm² LQFP package with 176 pins. Features include an ATU-III multifunction timer, a 12-bit A/D, a CAN interface, and a high-speed serial interface.
