Targeting rugged, communication-intensive applications found in transportation and other mobile environments, MEN Micro’s F302 3U CompactPCI Ethernet switch includes 8 Fast Ethernet channels on the front via RJ45, M12, or D-Sub connectors. An optional channel accessible through the rear J1 connector for communication within an embedded system is available. A service interface on the front provides options to configure the Ethernet channels individually via a hardware key, a Telnet command line interface, or SNMP. The switch uses an FPGA-based CPU that integrates configuration firmware and keeps the power consumption <7 W while operating from -40°C to 85°C. The EN 50155-compliant unit uses built-in self-test mechanisms, restores itself on its own, and resumes operation after the disturbance without any restart or reset if a link is temporarily unavailable. The component requires a single CompactPCI backplane slot. Pricing is $987.
