Operating from -40°C to 85°C, Hittite Microwave’s HMC700LP4E fractional-N and HMC698LP5E and HMC699LP5E integer-N synthesizer ICs exhibit a phase noise of -108 dBc/Hz with FOM in the order of -227 dBc and -153 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset from a 100-MHz, 0-dBm signal, respectively. The 8-GHz HMC7000LP4E has a 16-bit fractional divider, 24-bit delta-sigma modulator, 14-bit reference path divide, charge pump, and reference spurious levels of <-130 dBc. The component includes cycle slip prevention (CSP), can alter its output phase into micro degree steps, and can perform direct FSK modulation. The 7-GHz integer-N devices offer reversible polarity digital PFDs, lock detect outputs, input reference frequencies of up to 1,300 MHz, and integrated dividers operating from 80 MHz to 7,000 MHz with a continuous integer division ratio of N=12 to 259 and N=56 to 519, respectively. The ICs suit cellular, broadband, microwave radio, satellite, and military applications.
