Regardless of waveforms that have high crest-factor modulated content, multi-carrier, or multitone, Linear Technology’s LT5581 broadband 6 GHz RF detector demonstrates an rms measurement capability for RF power readings to within ±0.2 dB. The 8-lead 3 mm × 2 mm DFN-packaged component outputs a DC voltage that is linearly proportional to the log input power for mV/dB scaling with linearity of >±1 dB across a 40 dB dynamic range. The device operates over a frequency range from 10 MHz to 6 GHz and supply voltage range from 2.70 V to 5.25 V with 1.4 mA power consumption at 3.30 V. The detector offers a single-ended RF input, 1 µs rise time, 8 µs fall time, and a shutdown feature with typical shutdown current of 0.2 µA (6 µA max).
