Based on a PC/104 SBC fitted with a 500 MHz AMD Geode LX processor, Anders Electronics’ ENC-iGLX embedded computer system dissipates <6 W of power while operating at 5 V. The 120 mm × 116 mm × 40 mm module contains 256 MB of DDR memory; 60 GB hard disk for Linux or Windows XP; and an SXGA graphics controller to connect to a flat-panel monitor. The system can be fitted inside an enclosure or behind a display in equipment such as industrial controls, point-of-sale terminals, or kiosks. The module is self-contained in a dust- and splash-resistant metal case with 2 10/100 Ethernet ports, 2 USB ports, a serial RS-232 output, and a speaker and microphone interface. Other applications include Internet appliances, specialized routers, telephony, voice recording, and audio playback.
