Extending its SineFormer Series of EMC output filters, Epcos has designed its B84143V*R290. This filter is designed for applications up to a voltage of 760 V and is available in current stages of 95 A, 180 A, and 320 A. Depending on their type, they are operated at clock frequencies from 205 kHz. The technology allows there to be no shielded motor leads and bearing currents are reduced. Because the filters differ from their conventional sine-wave counterparts by dispensing with shielded lines, breakeven can already be reached from about 25 m. Typical applications are crane installations, pumps, HVAC, retrofitting of existing equipment for converter operation, and all applications using long shielded motor leads.
