Operating with an input from 2.7 to 5.5 V, the constant current LT3593 SSLD (solid-state lighting driver, or "sled") from Linear Technology is designed to drive up to 10 white LEDs from a single Li-Ion cell at efficiencies over 80%. With a 1-MHz constant switching frequency and a ±5% reference accuracy, the device includes features such as a single digital control pin that enables set-and-forget LED dimming with ratios as high as 32:1. Additional features of the SSLD include a shutdown current of 3 µA as well as a high-side LED current sense topology that enables the LED cathode to be connected directly to ground, creating a single wire current source. The driver is available in a 6-lead 2mm² DFN or ThinSOT package.
