Ramtron International Corporation introduced the FM33256 and the FM3316, which are 3V devices with 256 Kb and 16 Kb of FRAM, respectively. The devices incorporate a nonvolatile FRAM memory with No Delay™ writes, desirable endurance and low power consumption. They also include a real-time clock/calendar/alarm (RTC), as well as processor companion features such as a programmable low-VDD reset, a programmable watchdog timer, a manual reset function, a nonvolatile event counter, a lockable serial number, and a general-purpose comparator that can be used for early warning power-fail interrupts (NMI). The devices operate from 2.7V to 3.6V over the entire industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Samples are currently available in a 14-pin SOIC RoHS-compliant package. Pricing starts at $3.25 for the FM33256 and $2.25 for the FM3316 in 10,000 unit quantities.
