MUNICH, Germany -- June 6, 2011 -- TE Connectivity (TE), formerly Tyco Electronics, is pleased to launch its first ever product for thin-film solar modules: the new SOLARLOK micro junction box. The small 2-rail junction box has the same performance as a 4-rail solution -- at an affordable price. The micro junction box can also hold its own in terms of materials and processing. Like all SOLARLOK products, it is extremely robust and durable, allowing smooth operation even under extreme weather conditions.
For more than 25 years, TE has been a leading provider in the market for crystalline solar modules. The new junction box for thin film modules benefits from this experience. With the SOLARLOK micro junction box, panel manufacturers can be assured of using a mature brand-name product that meets the highest functionality demands.
The SOLARLOK micro junction box is only 67 x 74 mm large and 15.7 mm high. The low-profile product is optimally suited for all applications where small but powerful junction boxes are needed, such as solar power-operated garage doors and residential and commercial roof installations.
Besides high-quality and proven materials, additional details characterize the SOLARLOK micro junction box as a quality product with great value for money: the bypass diode between the two contact rails that snaps into the housing, providing particular robustness; and the extremely reliable crimp connection of the contact rail to the solar cable that TE has proven for over 50 years.
The new junction box is designed to pass TÃœV and UL requirements (IEC 61646).
The SOLARLOK micro junction box is available in a potted and in a non-potted version. It will be unveiled at the Intersolar trade fair (June 8 to 10 in Munich, Germany) and will be available starting in June 2011. Additional information: www.te.com/products/micro
