Best of CES 2012

As I said in a previous editorial [1], the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show was a colossal disappointment...though I believe it's endemic of the event's declining importance. Still, CES is always a fun show, and it's always worth the trip. The following is a collection of highlights from my trip to Vegas and the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show. Special thanks to ECN's photographer, Andrew Maiman.

American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest served as the host for Microsoft’s final CES press conference.

The requisite underwater tech shot.

Technical Editor Jason Lomberg tries out the forthcoming PlayStation Vita handheld system.

5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED touch screen

Some super-cool jumpdrives from a galaxy far, far away...

Bling bling! Some extremely expensive iPhone cases.

One of the big trends at CES 2012 was the ultrabook. Here’s a model from LG.

A cool example of augmented reality at the Intel booth.

LG was the talk of the show this year--nearly their entire booth was in 3D.

Behold, the ultimate gaming chair! Too bad I can’t afford the $44,750 price tag of the Emperor 200.

The DiscoRobo dancing robot at the Tosy booth. Too bad I can’t put up a video (copyrighted music).

ECN’s photographer enjoys a well-deserved adult beverage at the Speck booth.
