Netsmart and Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care (Cornerstone) announced their partnership to collaborate on enriching healthcare IT for hospice care organizations. The Florida-based healthcare provider will implement an enterprise electronic health record (EHR) solution developed by Netsmart to meet the unique requirements of hospice and palliative care. Together, they will work to innovate and refine technology to further advance the way hospice care is delivered.
“Delivering care in a hospice setting requires a specialized approach and there are many unique needs to consider,” said Jason D’Auria, vice president of operations at Cornerstone. “Netsmart has a finger on the pulse, when it comes to organizations like ours. We see a great deal of opportunity and potential in collaborating with them to advance technology that will positively impact hospice providers across the country and the individuals they care for.”
Cornerstone will leverage the powerful, easy-to-use myUnity Netsmart platform, built specifically for post-acute providers, coupled with its innovative solutions and services that go beyond the traditional EHR. Within the solutions, clinicians can complete clinical forms, develop treatment plans, record progress notes and assessments and collect consents at the point of care. Electronic signatures and embedded e-fax will also contribute to significant improvements in the workflow between clinical staff and physicians.
Enhanced connectivity facilitates the access and sharing of vital clinical data with Cornerstone’s care partners while in-depth, actionable analytics deliver valuable insights for each patient. Both factors are essential to integrating care and making informed care decisions for the more than 10,200 individuals they serve. The support of multiple care settings within the solution drives improved productivity across diverse facilities. Using a common system creates opportunity for success within accountable care organizations and managed care payment models.
“The Netsmart platform will take us to the next level of post-acute real-time EHR, enabling us to provide a single platform across multiple care domains,” said Jim Burrill, vice president of information technology. “This will support greater patient care coordination while simplifying workflows for clinical staff, improving patient care.”
The two organizations will join forces to enhance Netsmart offerings for hospice and palliative care providers, creating solutions that are effective, efficient, interoperable and scalable.
“We welcome the opportunity to unite with clients like Cornerstone who are passionate about achieving the best for their staff and patients,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “From a technology provider standpoint, we value the real-world ideas and feedback our clients provide so we can continue to produce and deliver the right solutions that make their daily lives easier.”
