Comcast has added access to another over-the-top streaming video service via its X1 platform, launching an app on Thursday for Sling TV’s international programming, which includes hundreds of multicultural networks.
Financial terms of the deal, which was originally announced in November 2016, were not disclosed.
Sling International offers live and on-demand content from more than 395 multicultural networks with programming available in 21 different languages including Arabic, Bengali, French, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Punjabi, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese to name a few.
Sling TV packages accessed through X1 cost the same as when purchased directly from the streaming service, with pricing starting at $10 per month.
New customers can sign up directly through the Sling International app on X1, while existing Sling TV customers can log in and access any of the programing that’s part of their current packages.
In its original announcement Comcast indicated that the deal’s initial focus is centered on Sling’s multicultural programs and channels, access via the Sling TV app for X1 boxes will expand to include Sling TV’s Blue and Orange multichannel packages.
Comcast noted that the Sling TV deal adds to the nearly 60 international channels already available separately on X1.
It also expands Comcast’s growing number of set-top box integrations, including Netflix, Pandora, NPR and YouTube.
