Sinclair Broadcast Group and NBC reached a multi-year deal to renew four station affiliation agreements in four markets serving about 1.4 million households.
The stations included in the agreement are KSNV in Las Vegas; WJAC in Johnstown, Pa.; and WTOV in Wheeling, W.Va. The agreement also renews NBC’s affiliate deal with Cunningham Broadcasting Group, the licensee of Reno-based KRNV that Sinclair provides sales and other services to under a joint sales agreement.
“We are pleased to renew our agreements with NBC,” Barry Faber, Sinclair’s EVP for Distribution and Network Relations, said in a statement. “The renewals reflect the value of the symbiotic relationship between NBC’s programming and the local news and syndicated content we provide.”
The companies said they previously agreed to TV Everywhere digital rights and a framework for Sinclair’s NBC affiliated stations to opt into over-the-top deals.
“We are happy to be renewing our affiliation with Sinclair and Cunningham in these four markets and look forward to continued collaboration to provide high quality NBC broadcast content to complement each station’s local news and programming,” Jean Dietze, president of Affiliate Relations at NBC Broadcasting, said.
Earlier this year, Sinclair struck a renewed agreement with ABC that extended affiliations across all Sinclair stations to August 2022.
Also on Tuesday, Sinclair announced Dave Schwartz is assuming the newly created role of VP of sales operations.
