Comcast has integrated another SVOD platform into its Xfinity TV offering, adding Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks’ CuriosityStream across the cable operator’s entire pay-TV footprint.
Xfinity TV customers nationwide can access the documentary-focused SVOD service via Comcast’s set-top box on demand platform and through its Xfinity Stream app and portal for $5.99 per month. Users can also access the service by saying “CuriosityStream” into the X1 voice remote.
The deal marks the first MVPD integration for CuriosityStream.
CuriosityStream programming focuses on demystifying topics such as science, history, technology, and nature. The service says it will feature more than 1,700 films and series in 2018. Shows now available include Stephen Hawking’s Favorite Places, David Attenborough’s Light On Earth, Deep Time History, and Prescription: Nutrition.
“We’ve designed our service to make it as easy as possible for subscribers to find the content they most like, on the interests they are the most passionate,” Clint Stinchcomb, chief distribution officer for CuriosityStream, comments in a statement. “That’s what this collaboration is all about. The innovative X1 platform harnesses technology to seamlessly deliver what viewers want, when they want it, changing the way people experience TV.”
