Hulu continues to stack its programming lineup, as it inks a deal with NBCUniversal for hundreds of episodes of shows, including the hit comedy series 30 Rock and popular drama Parenthood. The streaming service is also getting hands-free capabilities this fall when it will launch support for Amazon’s Alexa.
30 Rock will be exclusive to Hulu beginning Oct. 1, while the full Parenthood series will be available in early 2018. Both shows use to be available on Netflix.
Paul Reiser’s There’s Johnny will also debut on Hulu, the company says.
Other additions that come with the deal include 13 seasons of the UK reality TV series Made in Chelsea, as well as SYFY’s reality competition Face Off.
Also beginning this fall Hulu will be one of the first third-party entertainment services to support Amazon’s Alexa, meaning users can use Alexa Voice Remote, or pair their Fire TV to an Echo device for a variety of hands-free control actions.
Users can ask Alexa to find and launch content as well as pause, rewind, and fast-forward.
For example, customers can say commands like “Alexa, watch This is Us,” or “Alexa, go back 13 seconds.”
“We are always eager to launch deeper integrations with the devices that matter most to our viewers and are looking forward to Hulu’s integration with Amazon’s Alexa coming to customers soon” Richard Irving, VP of product at Hulu, comments in a statement.
