Researchers in China have successfully completed testing of the first manned megathermal superconducting maglev loop, which could lead to maglev trains capable of reaching 1,800 miles per hour.

Proposed by the Applied Superconductivity Laboratory of Southwest Jiaotong University, the super-maglev uses the same concept as Elon Musk's Hyperloop. So far, the prototype reaches a mere 30 mph, but eventually, it could destroy the speed of conventional maglev trains.
