Fandango has reached an agreement with AOL Inc.'s Moviefone for mobile ticket sales, the companies announced Wednesday.
Moviefone, which already allows consumers to buy tickets online or through mobile devices, is now the official ticketing partner of Fandango. The deal expands the reach of both companies.
Fandango can now reach Moviefone's customers and sell tickets through the mobile devices supported by AOL. Moviefone's customers get access to Fandango's network of 20,000 screens at movie theaters across the country.
"Partnering with Fandango gives Moviefone users an upgraded experience by allowing them to buy tickets from twice as many theaters with more options," said Jay Kirsch, senior vice president and general manager of AOL Marketplace. "This move bolsters our already extensive web and mobile offerings."
Shares of AOL fell 7 cents to $27.13 in midday trading.
