Mayor Michael Bloomberg's family philanthropic foundation is adding some prominent names to its board of directors.
The Bloomberg Family Foundation announced Thursday that Elaine L. Chao, who was the U.S. labor secretary under President George W. Bush, has joined the board. So has former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Navy Adm. Mike Mullen.
Samuel Palmisano, former president and CEO at IBM Corp., and Anne Tatlock, retired chairman and CEO of Fiduciary Trust International, also joined.
The foundation gave away $330 million last year.
