Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. said Tuesday that it won a $189 million award to help the Defense Department beef up cyber security.
Computer security company McAfee Inc. will be the primary subcontractor for Northrop Grumman's work. McAfee designs antivirus and cyber security programs that are used by consumers and big institutional clients.
Northrop Grumman's contract will last for three years, with two one-year extension options.
Northrop and McAfee will work with the Defense Information Systems Agency, boosting security for computer systems throughout the Defense Department.
Shares of Northrop Grumman fell 26 cents to close at $59.67.
