Elma Electronic Inc., a leading supplier of embedded products and systems solutions built on open standards-based platforms like VME, VPX, CompactPCI and ATCA, has received AS 9100 Rev C certification on its first audit through SAI Global, an internationally-recognized independent auditor of industry regulations, such as ISO.
Developed specifically for the aircraft, space and defense industries, AS9100 ensures the safety and reliability of electronic products used throughout these markets. Rev C, the latest revision that now includes land and sea based systems, places even more stringent demands on manufacturers to ensure the reliable operation of system and products in the critical military and defense markets. Elma’s Fremont, Calif. headquarters passed without any non-conformance issues, major or minor.
As part of the AS9100 certification, the entire company has been recertified to the latest ISO9001:2008 standards. It also lists Elma in the OASIS (online aerospace supplier information system) database, managed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG). Sponsored by three governing bodies – the European Association of Aerospace Industries (AECMA), the SAE International and the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC) – the IAQG is a cooperative of worldwide prime aerospace industry companies that jointly develop standards for high quality products.
Badri Rajan, Vice President of Quality for Elma Electronic Inc., stated, “Achieving Rev C certification on our first audit is a true testament to the commitment Elma has for the operation of our customers’ applications. We continually strive to be in line with our customers’ needs for highly reliable computing systems, from industrial usage up to rugged defense applications. Industry-specific standards, like AS9100, help manufacturers monitor critical cost and time-to-market factors, while ensuring customers get the best quality products available.”
