Online hotel reservation company The Priceline Group has appointed former Microsoft Corp. executive Darren Huston as CEO of its Booking.com subsidiary, the company said Monday.
Booking.com, based in the Netherlands, is an online hotel booking service for more than 165,000 hotels around the world. The company said it announced earlier this year that its previous CEO, co-founder Kees Koolen, will become chairman.
Huston, 45, as a Microsoft vice president since 2008, oversaw the software maker's consumer and advertising business in more than 40 countries. From 2005 to 2008, he was president and CEO of Microsoft Japan.
Priceline, based in Norwalk, Conn., has four primary brands: Booking.com, priceline.com, Agoda.com and TravelJigsaw.
Shares of Priceline.com Inc. fell $1.02 to close at $513.59 Monday.
