3D Systems Corp., a specialist in three-dimensional printing, said Thursday that it has acquired a company called SYCODE, whose software works with popular computer-aided design programs.
The acquisition price wasn't announced. 3D Systems said it doesn't expect the acquisition to be material to its financial results for 2011.
Three-dimensional printing works much like regular printing, except that the output is literally a three-dimensional product created by the machine, using commands sent by a computer. They are popular among designers for building prototypes.
