Rosetta Stone has reached settlements in 10 cases against people and businesses who it claimed had pirated technology, the language software company said Monday.

The company's copyrights and trademarks were violated through actions including the unauthorized copying, downloading, sharing and selling of counterfeit Rosetta Stone software, it said. Rosetta Stone settled lawsuits against eight people and two companies, one based in Madison, Ala., and the other based in the Czech Republic.

Shares of Rosetta Stone Inc. rose 81 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $23.80 in afternoon trading.
