Lauderdale, FL; February 26, 2010--Last week, representatives from xG® Technology presented well-received suggestions to the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. House Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet on improving spectrum usage. Both the FCC and Congress have expressed concern lately about spectrum availability. The xMax® mobile VoIP network developed by xG has the ability to significantly increase both usage and availability because it operates on unlicensed spectrum.

Unlicensed spectrum in the 900 MHz band has been largely unexploited for mobile telephone use because it was considered too “noisy.” The xMax network, however, with its patented unconventional approach has overcome this limitation. High quality calls at highway speeds are being made on the demonstration xMax network currently in operation in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The xG approach to better spectrum utilization is an example of how industry engineers are now using faster chip technology to defeat interference.

The FCC and congressional staff were invited to Ft. Lauderdale to test the system for themselves. It is anticipated that xG engineers will be making a more detailed presentation to the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology in the near future.

On the heels of the Washington visits, xG Technology was awarded 2009 Product of the Year by Internet Telephony Magazine for its xMax product.
