NCR Corp., which makes devices including ATMs, self-service checkout machines and airport ticketing kiosks, said Monday it has installed more than 100 new Blockbuster Express DVD-rental kiosks at Food City and Bashas' supermarkets in Arizona.
Blockbuster is scrambling to regain business it has lost to DVD-by-mail leader Netflix Inc. and Redbox, a subsidiary of Coinstar Inc., which operates more than 22,200 DVD rental kiosks.
Including about 1,300 DVD rental machines acquired in its December acquisition of DVDPlay, NCR now operates nearly 4,000 kiosks around the country for the Blockbuster brand.
Shares of NCR edged up 16 cents to close at $12.13. Blockbuster's stock gained about a penny to finish at 46 cents.
