MGM-owned premium network Epix has joined the standalone streaming service world, launching Epix Now for $6 per month.
The service is first available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Android devices, with support for Roku and Amazon Fire TV “coming soon.”
Subscribers get access to Epix’s lineup of new original series, including Pennyworth and Godfather of Harlem, and returning shows like Get Shorty, Berlin Station, and Deep State, as well as “thousands” of Hollywood hit movies and classic films. In addition to SVOD content, Epix’s four linear live channels are also available on certain connected TV devices, including Apple TV. Epix said the service will continue to roll out on more devices during 2019.
Users can also download movies and shows for offline viewing and 4K UHD content is available on supported devices.
“2019 is poised to be an incredible year of growth for our network,” said Michael Wright, president of Epix, in a statement. “Launching EPIX Now and providing consumers nationwide with access to our premium original programming and blockbuster movies is an exciting moment for our company and solidifies our commitment to bring high-level storytelling to as many people as possible. We look forward to welcoming new audiences to our network.”
Launched in 2009, Epix has been distributed through traditional pay TV providers across the country. In August 2018, Epix announced a new deal allowing Dish and T-Mobile’s Layer3 TV customers to access the network’s 4K Ultra HD VOD content directly through their set-top boxes. Dish had carried Epix programming since 2010, while Layer3 TV launched the network in 2017.
