Federated Wireless and LEMKO partnered on a new Private LTE solution based on CBRS shared spectrum.
Under the partnership, LEMKO’s 4G EZ Access Point will provide private LTE solutions for both indoor and outdoor CBRS applications while Federated Wireless will supply the cloud-based spectrum controller that gives operators and enterprises a cost-effective and dynamic option for accessing this new spectrum.
Designed for enterprise and industry vertical IoT solutions, EZ LTE provides carrier-grade broadband connectivity for Private networks, delivering network scalability and drop-and-go economics similar to WiFi. Federated Wireless’ Spectrum Controller dynamically manages access to the 3.5 GHz band from a cloud-based software system that protects incumbents while making spectrum available for commercial use. At the heart of the solution is a cognitive engine that provides automated spectrum lifecycle management nationwide.
“We think private LTE is one of the most promising new applications that immediately becomes available as we provide cost-effective access to new LTE spectrum,” Federated Wireless CEO Iyad Tarazi commented. “Our spectrum controller, paired with the LEMKO LTE solution, will allow Enterprises to control their own destiny by running LTE interference-free on a secure and dedicated band.”
The May 5 deadline is looming for CableLabs’ UpRamp submissions for its Fall 2017 program.
The three-month, non-residential startup accelerator is based in Louisville, Colo., and offers four to six startups the potential to engage with 57 cable providers including Comcast, Charter, Cox, and Virgin Media. To be considered, companies must have more than $1.5 million in financing or sustainable revenue and a working product or service that could be “a big win for the global cable-broadband-wireless industry,” according to an UpRamp statement.
UpRamp Fiterator kicked off last fall, and the first four teams to graduate reportedly now have 18 engagements with cable and broadband operators.
This week at NFV World Congress, Cloudify launched a new Open vCPE (virtual customer premises equipment) services solution. The open, multi-tenant service portal allows carriers to configure and deploy VNFs, build network service chains, and on-board new VNFs in days where previously weeks or months were required.
The Cloudify Open vCPE solution is designed to reduce risk by lowering the initial investment and speeding the time to deployment and revenue generation. It first optimizes the existing physical environment by moving the configuration processes into a self-service model. Operators then begin to gradually plug in new VNFs and infrastructure. This approach frees users from having to change the entire infrastructure environment before moving to automation and generating value.
The solution is based on an actual carrier deployment in which it delivers a custom vCPE/SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) solution. It integrates with the carrier’s existing CPE stack as well as OSS and BSS systems.
Cloudify said the solution demonstrates that generic, open source cloud orchestration makes it possible to eliminate hardware vendor lock-in, via a vCPE/SD-WAN engine that is dynamically configured to simplify the setup and deployment of any new remote branch connection automatically upon registration.
NetScout Systems announced a multi-year agreement with Vodafone Group to serve as Vodafone’s passive probing provider in Europe. NetScout’s InfiniStreamNG real-time information platform will provide Vodafone with a standardized, repeatable service assurance solution for deployment in 13 European countries in which Vodafone operates. The solution reportedly provides timely, accurate, and relevant data for use by service assurance, cybersecurity, and business intelligence on a single platform for both the enterprise and service provider marketplaces.
