Sierra Wireless, a provider of fully integrated end-to-end solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, announced the availability of the AirLink MG90, an LTE-Advanced vehicle networking platform that provides secure, always-on mobile connectivity. The MG90 builds on the oMG Mobile Gateway, the widely-deployed multi-network solution for mission-critical first responder, field service and transit applications.
The MG90’s multi-networking capability is designed for wireless applications such as in law enforcement vehicles, which host multiple systems (body worn cameras, laptops, electronic citation systems, live digital video surveillance and automated license plate recognition systems) that all need to remain securely connected as the vehicle travels.
Together with the AirLink Connection Manager, the MG90 consolidates the security for all connected technologies in the vehicle area network. The MG90 also integrates with the AirLink Mobility Manager—an end-to-end network management solution—to enable remote and real-time insight and control of connected mobile assets and mission critical applications, and supports vehicle tracking, telemetry and asset management applications.
Verizon has deployed BroadSoft’s BroadWorks solution as a VoLTE/IMS telephony application server in its VoLTE network as a piece of its One Talk by Verizon solution.
One Talk delivers advanced business features within the native mobile dialer, BYOD applications for smartphones and tablets and on desk phones that integrate with the Verizon 4G LTE mobile network. By integrating bMobile – an embedded BroadSoft capability that enables multi-device, multi-identity advanced business calling features and capabilities – with Verizon’s network technology and user interfaces, Verizon’s solution allows employees to leverage One Talk services from any compatible device.
T-Mobile is making it free to call and text from the United States to affected areas impacted by Hurricane Matthew, including the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos. T-Mobile will also waive roaming fees on calls and texts for customers in Bahamas, Bermuda, Haiti, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos.
Verizon and AT&T on Tuesday also said they would similarly waive charges for calling to impacted areas.
AT&T is now offering a new device option, enhanced functionality and expanded availability of its AT&T FlexWare solution – formerly known as AT&T Network Functions on Demand.
With AT&T FlexWare, business customers can set up multiple virtual network functions (VNFs), such as a router and a firewall, on a single FlexWare device and deploy them in different countries. They can also manage their network functions via an online portal.
The solution now includes two device form factors, a small device that can run up to two VNF applications and the previously available larger version that runs up to four. FlexWare is also adding Palo Alto Networks’ next-generation security platform to its catalog of VNFs.
AT&T FlexWare is now available in more than 150 countries and territories.
NXP Semiconductors introduced its third generation of Airfast products which include four LDMOS transistors for cellular macro base stations. The new Airfast 3 technology includes wide instantaneous bandwidths to cover an entire cellular band using a single device.
NXP’s Airfast 3 delivers performance in key areas that include efficiency, gain, RF output power, and signal bandwidth, while reducing the footprint required to deliver a given level of RF output power. When compared to Airfast 2, the third generation device delivers up to four percent greater efficiency (53 percent final-stage efficiency and up to 50 percent lineup efficiency), a 20 percent improvement in thermal performance, up to 90 MHz full-signal bandwidth, and space savings up to 30 percent.
The new Airfast 3 RF power transistors are currently sampling with production expected starting in Q4 2016. Reference circuits for various frequencies are also available.
