CommScope has introduced a new Multimedia over Coax Alliance amplifier to its Signal Vision line of subscriber drop products.
The amp is currently available in a two-output, all-ports-down configuration. With 15 dB of gain in the forward path and a passive reverse path, this MoCA amplifier supports the technologies needed to drive today’s high-speed voice, video and data networks.
Designed in an aluminum housing utilizing brass F ports and moisture/RFI gaskets, this product meets or exceeds all SCTE requirements, the company said.
Separately, the company is presenting a new backup power fuel cell solution. CommScope’s Fuel Cell Cabinet utilizes hydrogen-powered fuel cells to provide an environmentally friendly DC backup power solution for cable network headends and hub equipment. Unlike diesel generators or batteries, the only by-products of hydrogen fuel cells are heat and water.
With the highest density integrated fuel cell system available in the market and a cabinet design that is modular and flexible, CommScope’s Fuel Cell Cabinet can meet stringent backup power needs and improve system reliability.
“In the cable industry, the trend is well underway to find new, innovative ways to improve the reliability and environmental impact of backup power solutions,” said CommScope’s Anil Trehan, chief technology officer for carrier and cabinet solutions. “CommScope is honored that its Fuel Cell Cabinet was recognized by the cable industry as an innovative green solution and worthy of inclusion in the SCTE Green Pavilion.”
