MegaBots, Inc. recently released a video of its 16-foot-tall combat-ready robot, nicknamed Eagle Prime. The machine is already looking for a challenger, inviting the Japanese Kuratas to a world’s first giant robot brawl.
A Japan vs United States international robot fight night was set in motion back in 2015. At the time, MegaBots completed an earlier version named the Mk. II. According to the company, “The Mk. II MegaBot is a 15-foot tall, 12,000lb robot capable of hurling 3-lb projectiles at speeds of over 130 mph.”
Looking for an opponent, MegaBots called out the only other known human-piloted robot to a proper duel—the 9,000-lb Kuratas built by Suidobashi Heavy Industries.
The battle was accepted, and MegaBots got to work on some upgrades. Even though MegaBots has documented each improvement, Suidobashi Heavy Industries has kept a low profile since 2015.
“After two years of breakthrough science and engineering, MegaBots and Suidobashi are finally ready to bring the world the battle of the century. The all-new MegaBots Mk. III robot is a fully combat capable 12-ton, 430-horsepower steel crushing beast. Strap in and get ready. Things are about to get absurdly epic,” according to MegaBots.
Eagle Prime weighs in at 12 tons and has over 430 horsepower. Check out its design in the video below.
