RapidFIRE: Top ten 3D printers

Tue, 10/15/2013 - 2:41pm

PD&D (http://www.pddnet.com/) recently had the opportunity to review a couple of desktop 3D printers, the LulzBot TAZ and the Afinia H479 from Saelig. The review, while enlightening, only left us thirsting for more. Now that TAZ has shipped out, all that remains is a hole in a cube that begs to be filled.

So this is our short and sweet Top 10 wish list of 3D printers that we'd like to get our hands on next.

While we were at it, we put together the Top 8 Rapid Prototyping Accessories as well (http://www.pddnet.com/articles/2013/1...).

As with all tools, the Afinia and TAZ printers created some monumental misprints which we insisted on sharing, particularly the skull with its face burned off, that was a lesson -- and the only smell that rivaled burnt popcorn in the office.

- 3D Printing Failures: Afinia H479 (http://www.pddnet.com/news/2013/10/ph...)

Our wish list includes the MakerBot replicator 2X, the Cubify CubeX Trio, the EOSINT M 280, the Formlabs Form1, the DeltaMaker, the Mcor Iris, the Stratasys Dimension Elite, the Objet 1000, 3D Systems' ZPrinter 850, and the Solidscape 3Z MAX.
