Boeing's 787 Dreamliner made its first appearance in Washington this week and is scheduled for delivery to Air New Zealand in 2013. The Jetsurf Board is a gas-powered surfboard that can move at up 35 mph. It has a 100-cc gas engine, and the board is made from carbon fiber and Kevlar.

As they do, incremental improvements to the LED die are providing diminishing returns on investment. Fortunately, innovations in optical silicone packaging materials are introducing new, more cost-effective ways to enhance efficiency (lm/W), as well as cost (lm/$) and light density (lm/cm2).
