Ramtron International Corp.'s FM31x Processor Companion family now has a real-time clock requiring only a standard 12.5pF external watch crystal. Its has 4, 16, 64, or 256 Kb of nonvolatile F-RAM memory, a high-speed two-wire interface, and integrated support / peripheral functions for advanced systems. Other features are a programmable low-VDD reset, programmable watchdog timer, manual reset, dual battery-backed event counters, a lockable serial number, and a general-purpose comparator used for early warning power-fail interrupts (NMI). A separate memory location to write a 64-bit serial number is provided. Unit pricing begins at $1.81 in volume.
