The CENELEC (European center for electronic and electro-technique normalization) EN 50128 railway application standard has assessed their software common mode failure conformity.

Multi-Sensor Interface Delivers Low Power

March 7, 2008 10:51 am | Comments

ZMD America introduced its Multi-Sensor Interface Circuit (MUSic) family of semiconductors for microcontroller-based consumer, medical and industrial systems that require multiple sensor control. The product family is designed for a variety of markets and applications, especially those with multiple sensors where a microcontroller is the heart of the system.

All-Metal Encoder for Robust Applications

March 7, 2008 10:44 am | Comments

Elma Electronic released an all-metal body version of its E27 series encoders. The metal encoder is designed for more robust applications than the standard version where bushing strength, panel nut tightening torque and side-impact resistance is of primary importance. It can be a drop-in replacement for users who want to upgrade their designs or replace other devices without customization.

Optocouplers Handle From -55°C to +100°C

March 7, 2008 10:23 am | Comments

Offering flexibility and board-space savings in low-current DC control circuits and AC power loads up to 380V, the EL30XX family of 6-pin DIP random-phase and zero-cross triac driver optocouplers provide an operating temperature range from -55°C to +100°C. Available in 21 varieties with peak blocking voltages from 250V to 800V and low-trigger currents of 5 mA, 10 mA, and 15 mA, the zero-cross versions of the triac driver optocouplers provide

Gigabit Power Injector for Power-Over-Ethernet Applications

March 7, 2008 6:13 am | Comments

SL Power Electronics announced its single port power injector for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), Gigabit-compatible applications (10/100/1000 MbPS data rates). The Ault PW182 family provides power to devices through RJ45 jacks and high-speed data transfer over a single Ethernet cable. The product family has four models: PW182RA, PW182RB, PW182RC and PW182RD.

Mini DC/DC Converters Achieve Footprint Reduction

March 7, 2008 6:06 am | Comments

XP Power announced its JCA series of miniature, board-mounted low power DC/DC converters that measure 1" × 0.8" × 0.4". The device’s shielded metal package is 0.25" shorter than the 1.25" industry norm. Using the customary 24-pin DIP layout, the units occupy 20 percent less printed circuit board area than traditional products, allowing designers to reduce the size of new developments or add more features while maintaining the industry standard pin-out.

Industrial Power Supplies with Selective Fuse Breaking Technology

March 7, 2008 6:00 am | Comments

Phoenix Contact introduced its QUINT SFB family of industrial grade power supplies that feature selective fuse breaking (SFB), a technology that increases system reliability. This technology provides up to six times nominal current for 12 ms, and the short burst of current allows individual circuit breakers to react to overloads. Faulty current paths are shut down while the power supply continues to deliver power to the other loads.

Long-Life microATX Product Supports Intel Core2 Duo and Quad Processors

March 7, 2008 6:00 am | Comments

ITOX introduced two motherboards that support Intel Core2 Duo and Quad processors. The BL330-BR and BL330-B microATX form factor boards are designed for embedded applications requiring a stable revision-controlled platform, with long-term availability. Using the Intel Q35 Express chipset, each product offers availability through December 2014. In addition, the
