Metal Finishes Protect Air Filter Performance

January 14, 2008 8:31 am | Comments

Universal Air Filter's metal finish help increase air filter performance in harsh environments. These chrome-free, RoHS-compliant finishes are applied to the filter’s metallic components – frames, Uni-grid support, brackets, and honeycomb, to prevent corrosion as required by military and defense applications in MIL-C-5541 Class 1A and/or Class 3 compliance. Clear and yellow chemical conversion coatings are also important for EMI shielding

High-Voltage, Single- and Dual-Supply SPDT Analog Switches with Low 3.6-Ohm On-Resistance

January 14, 2008 7:32 am | Comments

Vishay Intertechnology released two high-voltage, single- and dual-supply single-pole double-throw (SPDT) analog switches. The DG469 and DG470 devices are identical, except the DG470 provides an enable pin, which puts all of the switches in a high-impedance state, maintaining a “safe state” at power up and preventing accidental signal or power shorts. The new switches are

January 14, 2008 6:28 am | Comments

Phaseda introduced its power slide switch series. This XN-series slide switches have many function options, including single pole and double pole, 2 to 4 positions. Terminals are solder lug, PC through-hole type. The UL approved electrical rating is up to 16A 125V AC; and the whole series is fully compliant with European RoHS

Verification Tool for High Level Synthesis Output Applications

January 14, 2008 6:27 am | Comments

Calypto Design Systems announced the availability of SLEC System-HLS for verification of high-level synthesis (HLS) output. Enabling ESL, SLEC (for Sequential Logic Equivalence Checker) formally verifies equivalence between electronic system level (ESL) models and register transfer level (RTL) implementations.

Non Contact Thermometer Sensor offers Narrow Field Of View

January 11, 2008 4:58 am | Comments

Melexis introduced the MLX90614xAC with narrow 35° field of view (FOV). Design engineers can now measure smaller objects or increase the sensor-object distance with this thermometer. The 35° FOV is obtained by adding a viewing angle limiting metal tube to the standard TO-39 housing of the MLX90614. By performing the calibration of the thermometer after this tube has been attached

Low cost I/O and DSP-optimized Devices for Automotive Electronics

January 10, 2008 8:36 am | Comments

Xilinx, Inc. introduced the XA Spartan-3A and Spartan-3A DSP FPGAs for use in automotive applications. XA Spartan-3A devices are I/O-optimized for low cost per I/O in the PLD industry with up to 1.4 million system gates and 502 I/Os. They are compliant with 26 popular single-ended and differential signaling standards, and support market-specific networking standards, such as CAN, MOST and FlexRay.

PWM Digital Power Amplifier with 100W Per Channel

January 10, 2008 8:31 am | Stmicroelectronics | Comments

STMicroelectronics' latest digital power amplifier, the STA510F, can drive up to 100W per channel of audio into stereo 8-ohm loads. The device will also drive 4 x 50W into 4 ohms, or up to 200W in a mono configuration, using STM's proprietary full flexible amplification method of digital modulation. However, it still accepts signals from other drivers using any PWM modulation scheme such as ternary, phase shift, or binary.
