XP Power announced its JCA series of miniature, board-mounted low power DC/DC converters that measure 1" × 0.8" × 0.4". The device’s shielded metal package is 0.25" shorter than the 1.25" industry norm. Phoenix Contact introduced its QUINT SFB family of industrial grade power supplies that feature selective fuse breaking (SFB), a technology that increases system reliability. This technology provides up to six times nominal current for 12 ms, and the short burst of current allows individual circuit breakers to react to overloads. Faulty current paths are shut down while the power supply continues to deliver power to the other loads.

The Hewlitt-Packard Co. introduced its power distribution rack (PDR) that improves power management in the data center by moving power distribution to the row level. Housed in a single HP 10000 G2 42U rack, the PDR also saves floor space and allows the movement of heat-robbing transformers off the data center floor, improving cooling. Capable of delivering 400A redundantly, the PDR can power several high density racks with shorter cable runs than conventional site level power distribution systems.

PowerGate LLC released its Cherokee CAR2500 family of +12V/+48V DC front ends and -54V DC rectifiers that offer 2.5 kW of power in a high density package with a power density of 27W/in3 and an efficiency of 92 percent. An onboard microcontroller allows accurate temperature, current and voltage sensing while supporting interfaces such as I2C, PMBus and Ethernet protocols.
