VIA Technologies announced the VIA EPIA PX mainboard, the first commercial mainboard based on the company's Pico-ITX form factor measuring 10 cm × 7.2 cm. ADLINK Technology introduced the RK-136, a 1U rackmount industrial chassis for use with half-size industrial cards and which provides a 5.25" bay for a slim CD-ROM drive, a 3.5" bay for a slim FDD, and two internal 3.5" drive bays. The cooling system incorporates three 4 cm ball bearing fans -- two at the front and one at the rear -- generating a combined ventilation throughout of 21 cfm.
XP Power announces its 10W ECL10 and the 15W ECL15 compact, low power AC/DC power supplies. Both supplies are available in three mechanical formats: open frame pcb mount, encapsulated pcb mount and open frame chassis mount. The units are available with single output voltages of 3.3V DC, 5V DC, 9V DC, 12V DC, 15V DC, 24V DC and 48V DC. Full power is supplied across the whole input voltage range of 85V AC to 264V AC or 120V DC to 370V DC. They operate across a range of temperatures from –20°C to +70°C, with derating above +50°C.
Astrodyne introduces its ECA Series of miniature encapsulated switching power supplies for EMC noise compliance to EN 60601-1-2:2001. All models accept universal input from 90V AC to 264V AC, and 60 models are available that provide output power from 5W to 15W with single and dual outputs from 5V DC to 24V DC.
NexTek, Inc. announces its E-Class Series SurgeGuard lightning arrestors that are designed for optimizing RF performance at frequencies up to 6 GHz. The series provides bi-directional protection, and it passes DC without any performance degradation. Mercury and P.A. Semi are collaborating to deploy P.A. Semi’s dual-core PA6T-1682M PWRficient processor on Mercury’s military and industrial systems for high-performance signal and image processing applications. The PWRficient processor is said to achieve a 300 percent improvement in performance per Watt, enabling multiprocessor solutions for applications with constraints on size, weight, and power.
Emerson Network Power launches its Astec NTS503, a digitally controlled 500W AC/DC power supply that offers a power density of 11.9W per cubic inch. It has a compact 4" x 7" footprint, making it easy to incorporate a single unit that satisfies bulk DC power needs. It offers a choice of convection or forced-air cooling. The convection-cooled model has an output of 200W and a height of 1.5", making it suitable for 1U rack-mount chassis and other low-profile applications.
Absopulse Electronics introduces its DIO 122 dual output, high voltage isolated DC/DC converter that was developed for high power gate drivers and similar applications in oil and gas, mining, medical, railway and industrial environments. The converter is corona (partial discharge) free at 12 kVrms (minimum), and each unit is Hi-POT tested for 20 kVrms isolation. The typical operating voltage potential between primary and secondary is 6.5 kVrms to 10 kVrms with the same isolation provided between the outputs.
Excelsys Technologies announces its Xlite series of compact, high power density, plug-and-play power supplies. The 600W end user-configurable units offer eight isolated outputs in a slim-line package of 1U x 260 mm x 89 mm. Three different powerPac chassis are available, providing system power levels of 200W, 400W and 600W. These may be populated with any combination of four different output modules from a range of seven different types offering nominal outputs from 2.5V DC to 48V DC.
TracoPower introduces its TMR-2WI series of isolated and fully regulated 2W DC/DC converters in a high-density 1.18" x 0.36" x 0.49" SIP package with input ranges of 9V DC to 36V DC/18V DC to 75V DC. The series consists of 14 models offering 9V DC to 36V DC or 18V DC to 75VDC input ranges with single and dual outputs ranging from 3.3V DC to 15V DC. An efficiency up to 84 percfent allows –40°C to +75°C operation temperatures at full load.
EnerSys extends its DataSafe HX line to include smaller-sized batteries to meet the requirements of single-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. The series includes seven models: the HX25 through the HX150. These valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries have a 10-year design life for use by UPS original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as data center and facility managers in the information technology industry.
MicroPower Direct announces its LF200D series of ultra-miniature 2W DC/DC converters. Packaged in an SMT case, these converters provide a combination of power, performance and miniature size. Seven models operate from 5V DC, 12V DC and 24V DC inputs, providing dual outputs of ±5V DC, ±12V DC or ±15V DC. Standard features include efficiency as high as 82 percent, an input/output isolation of 1,000V DC and low noise operation.
