Tripp Lite expanded its line of power distribution units (PDUs) to provide options in power capacity, form factor and management. Most of the models feature a proprietary built-in network interface that allows users to remotely monitor and control individual outlets and connected devices via SNMP, Web or Telnet. For greater functionality, free PowerAlert network management software centrally monitors and controls power for up to 250 UPS systems or PDUs on their network. The software allows managers to mass-configure multiple remote device settings from a single location, and they can also be set to auto-discover UPS and PDU devices in specific network segments or IP address ranges.
Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. expanded its power semiconductor line with a family of high-speed switching MOSFETs based on UMOS VI-H which enables a reduction in gate switch charge and on-state resistance (RDS(ON)), resulting in greater power efficiency. The Models TPCA8028-H and TPC8035-H MOSFETs are intended for use in high efficiency DC/DC converter applications in notebook PCs and other electronic applications.
Endicott Research Group released its E220 series DC/AC inverter that combines up to 12W of output power with a vacuum-encapsulated design to ensure reliable CCF lamp ignition for LCDs used in outside, cold storage or other low-temperature environments. The inverter provides starting voltages of up to 2,300 Vrms in a compact, low-profile, PCB-mountable package for LCDS ranging in size from 5.7"to 15" diagonal. The inverter uses the proprietary EFD 20 low-profile transformer for a form factor of 0.60" × 1.2" × 1.56" in a fully vacuum-encapsulated design that ensures maximum resistance to shock, vibration and humidity. Operating range is -20°C to +70°C.
Murata Electronics North America introduced its Model MPD6S022S DC/DC point-of-load (POL) non-isolated converter that measures 21 mm × 9 mm × 21 mm in a SIL package, minimizing layout real estate. It delivers 10.8W with high efficiency (up to 95 percent) and zero de-rating. These attributes, combined with the 3V to 5.5V input voltage range, adjustable 1.1V to 3.6V output range and 0° to +70°C operating temperature range make it suitable for use in digital consumer home electronics such as televisions and DVD players. The DC/DC converter does not require an external capacitor, further saving board space.
Lambda launched its ZWX series of industrial low profile ATX open frame AC/DC computer power supplies for server and industrial computer applications. These supplies provide the five voltages needed for high-end industrial computers including +3.3V, +5V, +12V, -12V and +5V (standby), and they are 1U rack/enclosure mountable. The ZWX300 includes a sixth output (a second +12V) to support extra drives, memory and fans. The supplies are suitable for applications where convection cooling is preferred, and they can provide higher power when fan cooling is desired.
