Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. released its VLMB41XX series of sapphire-based, high-intensity blue SMD LEDs that offer efficient InGaN technology. The six SMD LEDs in the series provide illumination for applications including backlighting in automotive dashboards and switches, indicators and backlighting in telecommunications systems, audio and video equipment, office equipment and flat backlighting for LCDs, switches and symbols in general use.

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. announced its model TLWK1100B compact high-efficiency white LED. This LED offers luminous intensity levels of 1,500 mcd from a drive current of 20 mA (typical value). The robust design makes it suitable for automotive lighting designs, LCD backlighting, panel indicators and the replacement of incandescent bulbs in certain lighting applications.

Supertex introduced its HV9980 three channel, high voltage, LED driver IC that is well suited for LCD and DLP television applications. It features three channels of peak current mode control that include a switch for regulating the LED current, enabling 95 percent efficiency in DLP television applications. Each channel features an integrated, 160V, 25? MOSFET, individual PWM and linear dimming inputs.

American Bright Optoelectronics announced the BL-Hxxx7A-TRB series of small, low current surface mount LED in 0402 (1.0 mm × 0.5 mm × 0.4 mm) package size. The LED is compatible with infrared and vapor phase reflow solder processes and provides compatibility with industry standard automatic placement equipment. The series is RoHS compliant and compatible with industry accepted lead free processes.
