Power MOSFETs Specify On-Resistance at 1.2V Gate-to-Source Voltage

September 25, 2007 10:20 am | Comments

Vishay Intertechnology announced what are said to be the industry’s first power MOSFETs with on-resistance ratings at a 1.2V gate-to-source voltage in portable electronic systems. The devices bring the MOSFET turn-on voltage into alignment with the 1.2V to 1.3V operating voltages of digital ICs used in mobile electronics, enabling safer and more reliable designs. The TrenchFETs eliminate the need for an extra conversion stage in battery-operated systems with a core voltage lower than 1.8V.

Low Noise, 1.1A LDO Offers High Power Density

September 25, 2007 10:03 am | Comments

Linear Technology announced the LT1965, a low noise, low voltage 1.1A LDO with high power density. It features low dropout voltage of 300 mV at full load, with wide VIN capability of 1.8V to 20V and low adjustable output from 1.2V to 19.5V. Ultra-low output noise of only 40 µVRMS reduces noise in instrumentation, RF, DSP and logic supply systems and is beneficial for post-regulating switching power supplies.

Enclosures Users Can Wear and Store

September 25, 2007 9:53 am | Comments

OKW introduced a new belt/wall clip accessory for its SOFT-CASE Series which allows the enclosures to be worn on a belt and then stored on a wall, or in a cabinet, after use. With this new accessory part, the enclosures can be used for mobile electronics that are worn by a series of users and then returned to a store area after a given period, for example data logging, inventory management, medical and wellness devices and guided tour systems.

Quartz Frequency Standard Features 1 pps Tracking

September 25, 2007 8:08 am | Comments

Novatech Instruments, Inc. introduces its Model 2960AX disciplined quartz frequency standard. This bench-top instrument provides a way to generate precise frequency reference signals for laboratory equipment and communication systems. Containing an ovenized quartz crystal time-base, it has a stability of better than ±5 × 10-11 per day when disciplined to a 1 pps source.

Four-Channel Jitter Tolerance Test Systems

September 25, 2007 8:04 am | Comments

Anritsu Company introduces its MU181000B 12.5 GHz four-port synthesizer, the MU181000A/B-001 jitter modulation option and the MX180005A jitter application software for its MP1800A signal quality analyzer series. These options allow the series to conduct accurate jitter tolerance measurements on devices with up to four channels such as multi-channel CPU boards, PC boards and optical devices, forming interconnects in routers, servers and super computers.

Low-Jitter, Spread-Spectrum Clock Modulators Reduce EMI in Large-Format LCD Panels

September 25, 2007 7:59 am | Comments

Maxim introduced its DS1081L/DS1083L 16 MHz to 134 MHz, center spread-spectrum clock modulators. These modulators use an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL) to dither the clock output around its center frequency at a user-selectable magnitude from 0 (disabled) to ±2.0 percent, thus reducing peak EMI at fundamental and harmonic frequencies. This EMI reduction is accomplished without changing clock rise/fall times or adding the space, weight, design time
