High-temperature power inductors target military, aerospace applications

Wed, 08/14/2013 - 10:35am

high temp inductorsCoilcraft CPS introduced its AE619PYA Series of high-temperature, military-grade power inductors that meet all NASA low outgassing specifications. These robust, composite-core surface mount inductors are constructed of high-temperature materials to exceed the requirements of most military and aerospace applications, such as driver circuitry, DC-DC converters, switching power supplies, power inverters, and filters.  Soft saturation makes them appropriate for voltage regulator module (VRM/VRD) applications. The series offers a full-rated temperature range of -55° to +115°C, and operation to 155°C with current de-rating. Additional benefits include saturation current ratings to 111 A, DC resistance down to 0.70 mOhms, and self-shielded construction. AE619PYA Series power inductors measure just 0.598 x 0.638 x 0.315-0.323mm. Ten inductance values are available, ranging from 0.4 μH – 6.1 μH, and self-resonant frequencies are to 53 MHz typical. Special composite core construction and larger gauge windings provide high current handling. Standard terminations are tin-lead (Sn-Pb) over copper, with other options available.
