XMC/PMC Module Integrates Optical Transceiver

April 1, 2008 11:16 am | Comments

Advanced IO Systems announced its V1021 configurable 10 GbE connectivity and packet processing XMC/PMC module. Due to the integration of SFP+, the 10-gigabit optical transceiver technology, the module provides high bandwidth data-pipe performance with flexible processing functionality in a single chassis slot. This optimization enables system developers to pack more functionality into a system while reducing its size and cost in real-time applications such as radar, signals intelligence, and sensor processing.

Dual-Core VXS Module Performs in Multi-Computing Applications

April 1, 2008 11:10 am | Comments

Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. released its VS6-210 P.A. semi dual dual-core module that combines the industry-standard Power Architecture framework and serial RapidIO interconnect fabric with the PWRficient PA6T-1682M processor for low-power, high-performance processing. Suitable for sensor applications including radar, sonar, communications and imaging, the module uses three independent standards-based communication fabrics for control, data movement and sensor data input in an air-cooled VXS form factor.

AMC Extender Card Supports Fabric Connectors

April 1, 2008 11:03 am | Comments

Elma Electronic, Inc. announced its extender board for MicroTCA and AMC-based systems that extends the signals out of the card cage area so that an Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) can be tested or debugged. The AMC extender card is a passive extender module, supporting all fabric connectors as defined in the AMC.x and MicroTCA specifications. The board complies with the MicroTCA.0, AMC.1 R1.0, AMC.2 D0.96A specifications, and it plugs into an AMC slot like a regular AMC module. Management and payload power can be individually switch isolated. The metal frame of the AMC extender card holds the board under test securely in place.

Servo Drive Measures Motor Shaft Position

April 1, 2008 10:51 am | Comments

Lenze-AC Tech released its resolver-based Model 941 position servo drive that measures the position of the motor shaft within a revolution, while an incremental encoder can only know the relative position of the shaft. This position servo has an integrated resolver with a scalable emulated encoder output for applications that require tight positioning control. The output scales the resolution back into the user’s controller, providing 15 options of positioning resolution. Users can also choose their own level of control with the position servo drive’s capability of controlling basic torque and velocity applications up through fully programmable coordinated motion.
