Transceiver IC Empowers 2.4 GHz Networks

Operating in the 2.4GHz band, the Nordic Semiconductor nRF24L01+ single-chip transceiver IC offers a 250kbps data rate option mode with a -94dBm sensitivity for up to triple the operating range over previous parts. Supporting up to six simultaneous wireless devices, the IC has a peak current of 13.5mA, enabling enough of a power budget to run a product on standard coin cell batteries.

With a power-saving quiescent current of 3mA and a gain of 10dB, Avago’s ACPM-7353 power amplifier can deliver power levels up to 11 dBm, extending operation in portable devices without compromising performance. Deployable using high, mid, or active-bypass power modes, the device supports cellular and USPCS dual-band frequencies with an RF input port for each band. Based on the fifth generation of its revolutionary CoolPAM technology, the Avago amplifier achieves up to a 10 percent extension of battery life over previous CDMA/UMTS network products.

Crosspoint Matrix Provides High Current Capacity

The 60-600 high current capacity 256-relay crosspoint matrix from Pickering Interfaces can switch voltages up to 30V DC or 250V AC. With features including a 10A rating per channel the 1U rackmount device is deployable in a variety of matrix configurations, from 64 × 4 to 16 × 16, one pole, with 8-way high-power D-Type connectors for both the X- and Y-axis connections.

Curtiss-Wright Controls announced its CHAMP-AV6 VPX DSP engine which delivers a sustained intercard data rate of 8.68 GB/s, a 16× improvement over the quad PowerPC-VME-based DSP engine. The device uses the standard IPC communications library, highlighting the inherently low overhead of both SRIO and the IPC library, which together were able to deliver approximately 92 percent of the “wire speed” of the SRIO links. Features include four Freescale 8641 single/dual-core processors, backplane connectors capable of handling signaling speeds in excess of 6.25 Gbits/sec, and 1.0" pitch option defined by the VPX-REDI standard (VITA 48) that enables the use of several enhanced mechanical design elements to achieve higher power dissipation.
