ADLINK Technology introduced the NuPRO-852 PICMG 1.0 full-size SBC featuring dual-channel DDR2 memory at speeds of 533/667 MHz,the Intel GMA 3000 graphics core architecture providing up to 2,048 ×1,536 resolution with 10.6 BG/s peak memory bandwidth, a Front Side Bus to connect the CPU and memory at 1,066 MHz and several processor options: Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium D, Pentium 4 and Celeron D.

ADLINK Technology’s GEME-5000 PC-based controller offers multiple CPU options, USB connectors and DDR RAM in addition to standard features found in earlier models. The GEME-5000 includes an Intel Low Voltage Pentium M processor (up to 1.4 GHz) and can be controlled from remote locations and run continuously in critical applications including machine tools and digital video capture.

PCI-104 CPU Breaks the 1 GHz Barrier

Ampro broke the 1 GHz barrier for rugged PC/104-size modules while remaining true to form factor standards. The CoreModule 800 fits a complete CPU subsystem with I/O, PCI-104 bus expansion, and network interfaces without violating the required 3.550"× 3.750" (90 mm × 96 mm) board outline. Featuring the 1 GHz Intel Celeron® M 373 processor from -40°C to +85°C without a CPU cooling fan on a 0.120" thick PCB with optional conformal coating, CoreModule 800 is suited for applications requiring high reliability within confined spaces and harsh environments.

The Kontron CP6012 CompactPCI processor board is now available with the Intel CoreTM 2 Duo processor in addition to the Intel Core Duo processor. Renamed the Kontron CP601264, this board manages data throughput with server quality. It features a 4 MB L2 cache, an improved internal architecture and 64-bit Intel technology.

Mechanical Vibration Switch for Machine Shutdown Protection

The Model 685A07 Mechanical Vibration Switch from the IMI Sensors Division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB) comes standard with an external pushbutton reset, and does not require power to operate. The switch uses a spring loaded, magnetically coupled sensor which can be externally adjusted for higher or lower sensitivity. This technology is suitable for cooling towers, fans, small motors or pumps, or any installation which requires immediate shutdown when increased vibration levels are present.

Oxford Semiconductor introduced a software development kit for its OXETHU954 network connectivity controller chip to aid the design of Linux-based device networking products. Comprising a development board, Linux OS and Eclipse-based IDE tools, the kit is suited for factory automation, point-of-sale and building management applications. Embedding and ARM926 processor, memory management unit and Wind River Platform Linux operating system, the OXETHU954 is the company’s first connectivity platform to offer Ethernet, PCI, USB2.0 (dual) and UART (quad) connectivity in a single package.

Analog and Serial I/O Modules for FPGA-based PMCs

VMETRO announced a trio of new I/O modules for use with its FPGA-based PMC products. Users can choose the front-end processing appropriate to the application from a dual channel 105 MSPS analog input, a dual channel 210 MSPS analog output or a RS-485 module. All three I/O modules integrate into a VMETRO PMC-FPGA03, PMC-FPGA05 or DEV-FPGA05 card. These FPGA-based PMC/PCI boards feature Xilin VirtexT-II Pro or Virtex-5 FPGAs and memory banks directly connected to the FPGA for signal and data processing in computationally intensive applications.

Reference Design Allows Rapid USB Mass Storage Interface Development

Future Technology Devices International Limited (FTDI) announced the availability of the VF2F2 reference design module for its Vinculum VNC1L embedded USB host controller. The design incorporates a practical firmware application that demonstrates file transfer using the USB mass storage class interface. It permits moving files from a USB device to a USB flash disk. The design could also be used to transfer files between other mass storage class devices such as MP3 players or between two USB flash disks. The module is equipped with two USB type A sockets and four control buttons.

FlexATX Intel Core 2 Duo Motherboard

Adlink Technology’s M-885 adopts the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset and supports the Intel Core2 Duo which is said to improve performance and lowers power consumption up to 40 percent. The motherboard offers a 667 MHz Front Side Bus, supports up to 2 GB dual-channel DDR2 memory, and provides a high resolution (up to 1,600 × 1,200) integrated graphics engine. It adopts the FlexATX form factor for use in a variety of industrial chassis designs and customizations.

Sixteen-bit Resolution PCI DAQ Card

Adlink Technology’s PCI-9221 multi-function 16-bit resolution DAQ card features a sampling rate up to 250kS/s. It also provides a programmable I/O supporting digital I/O (TTL), general-purpose timer/counters, motor encoder inputs, and PWM (pulse width modulation) outputs for simple motion control. The PCI-9221 card offers two 16-bit analog outputs which are suitable for applications requiring DC voltage output control.
