Modules Provide Power over Ethernet for Industrial Applications

June 21, 2007 6:11 am | Comments

Phoenix Contact introduces industrial-strength Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) modules, which make it possible to use the Ethernet to transfer not only data, but also electricity. The modules make it quick and inexpensive to power end devices such as wireless LAN access points, IP telephones, webcams, Ethernet hubs and other appliances in locations where supplying power separately would be inconvenient. The FL IF 2PSE-F module offers two PoE ports for the Modular Managed Switch (MMS).  It is an “endspan” device with power sourcing equipment (PSE) integrated in the switch/hub.

Diodes Serve as Building Blocks for Modules, Fiber-Coupled Packages

June 19, 2007 10:26 am | Comments

Blue Sky Research announced CircuLasers, distributed by AMS Technologies. They are produced by mounting the µLens directly in front of the diode chip emitter. This transforms the highly elliptical output beam of a standard laser diode into a circular beam. The lens profile compresses the fast-axis of the beam down to the divergence angle of the slow axis, thus converting the beam's elliptical shape into a very user-friendly, gradually diverging, circular cross section

Outdoor-Viewable TFT Display with TMR

June 19, 2007 10:19 am | Comments

One Stop Displays announced a 3.5¨ landscape orientation TFT-LCD display using a high-brightness LED backlight and TFT Micro-reflectivity (TMR) film enhancement technology. The TMR film adds functionality in sunlight to standard transmissive panels. It adds a minimum 2 percent reflectivity to panels designed with transmissive characteristics providing functionality in otherwise difficult conditions. This display features a digital RGB 18-bit TTL interface standard
