Compact, rugged multi-platform mission computer system targets vetronics and avionics
Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions (CWCDS) has introduced the newest member of its family of fully integrated Multi-Platform Mission Computer (MPMC) subsystems. The new MPMC-9105 VMC (Versatile Mission Computer) is an ultra compact, volume optimized system designed for space, weight and power (SWaP)-constrained vetronics and avionics applications. This COTS subsystem features a compact and lightweight small form factor suitable for use on platforms such as UAVs, helicopters and ground vehicles. This highly rugged subsystem is especially suited for platforms requiring general processing with deep and diverse IO requirements including video. It is positioned to ease and speed the integration of cost-effective high performance Intel-based networked computing into defense, aerospace and law enforcement platforms, from benign laboratory to rugged deployed environments. Packaged in an environmentally sealed enclosure, this low-profile (W: 278 mm x D: 230 mm x H: 85 mm) and lightweight (6.5Kg fully configured with two XMC mezzanine modules and four SSDs) mission computer is designed to meet challenging thermal management and intensive processing and I/O requirements ranging from low power systems to high-performance computing solutions.
