cPCI power supplyDigital Power Corporation increased the output power of its 6U CompactPCI power supply series models CPCI-AC-6U-650 and CPCI-DC-6U-650 to 650 Watts. The product line is fully compliant with the PICMG 2.11 power interface specification, incorporates the standard Positronic 47-pin connector, and offers hot-swap, N+1 redundant connection and active load current share. The power supply features 90 V to 264 V universal AC input voltage with active power factor correction, or DC input covering the range of 36 V to 72 VDC. Standard output voltages are +5 V/80 A, +3.3 V/70 A, +12 V/7 A, and -2 V/1.5 A, and custom variants are possible. All models include a monitor and control (M&C) system based on an intelligent I2C bus, which provides comprehensive remote status monitoring and control functionalities. These capabilities include remote inhibit, output fail alarm, over temperature warning, output remote sense, and single wire current share. Front panel LEDs indicate outputs OK and fault conditions.

Full use of advanced component and circuit technologies, including synchronous rectification, low profile transformers and SMT components, ensure very high efficiency and power density. The power supply’s innovative design uses two output converters in parallel, one for the +3.3VDC output and the other for the +5VDC output. This approach ensures maximum flexibility when determining load requirements for each output and enables full load currents to be drawn.

The CompactPCI 650 watt series is RoHS compliant and has full international safety agency approvals, including UL/cUL60950, CE Mark (LVD) and EN55022 Level A. Operating temperature range is -5C to +55°C with de-rating at 2.5% per °C to +70°C. Cooling requirements are 400LFM of airflow and MTBF is calculated as >400,000 hours per Belcore 332 issue 6.
